Going strong since 1974 CASE is an educational collaborative agency made up of 11 regional and municipal districts affording member and non-member school districts the opportunity to augment local services by planning developing and implementing programs for students with special needs.Job Goal:To provide physical therapy services according to IEP document to eligible students and consultation to parents/guardians and teachers for the facilitation of students independent performance of school-related tasks which are compromised by impaired gross motor skills. This position is a 10 month 185 day school-year position (180 school days; 5 professional development days).Job/Performance Responsibilities:
Provide direct individual and small group therapy to students identified as eligible for physical therapy services.
Assess and maintain data on the progress of all students on caseload and differentiate student goals and instruction accordingly.
Select appropriate therapy programs and methodologies plan and implement therapy that matches students IEP goals and objectives.
Develop and implement schedules for students services in accordance with their IEPs service delivery.
Serve as an effective consultant with parents/guardians general education teachers special educators and teaching assistants regarding students motor needs and carryover/generalization of related skills.
Assist staff in developing appropriate physical therapy classroom accommodations and modifications when appropriate.
Provide data and input to help PT Complete data informed progress reports for all caseload students according to the schedule set by host school Collaborative and special education regulations.
Maintain and use adaptive equipment and materials.
Participate in annual review meetings for students on caseload and assist PT as requested to help with establishing appropriate goals and objectives for eligible students IEPs.
Serve as a contact to private physical therapists physicians and specialists when appropriate.
Provide communication to parents/guardians of students on caseload (e.g. parent-teacher conferences email telephone contact).
Complete budget requests for the Collaborative budget; order necessary materials for instruction and assessment.
Participate in host school Open House for parents/guardians staff meetings and professional development opportunities as appropriate.
Maintain the high level of confidentiality and professionalism expected of all faculty.
Keep abreast of the latest trends materials research and best practices related to physical therapy.
Participate in appropriate professional development opportunities to increase knowledge base and skills and to maintain licensure.
