Job Description

The Australian Financial Review is looking for a creative innovative and well-organised Art Director to work across lifestyle and magazines. The role is primarily responsible for the art direction of the AFRs weekly lifestyle liftout Life & Leisure taking ownership of visual concepts which work in print and online. Additional responsibilities include art direction for the AFRs quarterly gloss Fin! magazine.

This is a 10 month contract to cover parental leave. We are open to applicants who wish to work part-time.

In this role you will:

  • work closely with the Life & Leisure and Fin! Magazine editors and the editorial team to produce a quality liftout and magazine.
  • meet demanding weekly deadlines.
  • organise and direct cover shoots.
  • conduct extensive photo research to ensure all images are in keeping with the magazines aesthetic.

Qualifications :

What we would like to see: 

  • strong print production skills ideally with experience in magazines or lifestyle.
  • a sophisticated eye for design and the ability to redesign pages when required.
  • ability to work autonomously and to deadline within a team environment.
  • excellent attention to detail and adaptability.
  • advanced working knowledge of InDesign Illustrator and Photoshop.
