JOB SUMMARY
The Child Development Training Center (CDTC) Coordinator oversees and coordinates the daycare program in conjunction with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department focusing on providing support for daycare services and ensuring positive experiences for children parents and CTE students learning childcare skills. The Coordinator performs a wide variety of duties related to the operation of the CDTC including establishing and maintaining operational standards overseeing the daily activities for the children scheduling and supervising staff and working with parents regarding enrollment registration and fees. This role also completes all necessary requirements for maintaining compliance with State standards childcare licensing requirements health department regulations and all other regulatory requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
1. Bachelors degree in early childhood education education or a related field. Education may be substituted for eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience working in a day care setting
2. Hold or obtain a Food Handlers permit CPR certificate and Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate within 30 days of hire
3. Experience scheduling activities/meetings gathering data and using basic job-related office equipment such as phones copy machines and computers
4. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and experience in using data-based software
5. Ability to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percentages and ratios
6. Must be able to speak read write and present professionally in English; analyze and interpret written and verbal communications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
These are examples of skills and experience that the best-qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.
1. Direct experience managing a licensed daycare center
2. Experience designing age-appropriate activities; knowledge of stages of child development and childcare regulations
3. Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience within a daycare or childcare center
4. Training or experience in behavior management techniques and positive discipline strategies
5. Spanish or other language proficiency including the ability to read write speak and understand
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Direct and coordinate all functions relating to the operation of the Early Childcare Training Center (ECTC); create and maintain a safe and healthy learning and working environment
2. Schedule hire supervise train and direct staff activities; evaluate staff as required
3. Track and maintain the centers budget coordinate enrollment processes and maintain appropriate records of the centers activities
4. Design the centers learning environment to ensure the safety happiness development and well-being of the children under their care
5. Utilize strong knowledge and keen attention to detail in order to coordinate daily childcare program operations (e.g. lesson plans registration etc.) in accordance with the parent handbook
6. Design and oversee the centers enrollment process ensuring that enrollment criteria are met waiting lists are appropriately maintained and appropriate fees are collected in a timely manner
7. Maintain confidential program management records including record keeping and administrative tasks such as managing attendance food service records accident reports managing document processing etc. Must report any observations or incidents to the relevant administrative personnel
8. Complete all necessary applications and documentation to maintain compliance with state licensing standards
9. Identify issues create action plans and solve problems to improve services including managing student conflicts
10. Inform parents of daycare children and CTE students about the operations of the daycare program including promptly responding to inquiries from both parents and employees
11. Dispense medication to students as directed by written documentation from parents/guardians; communicate with parents when children are ill; issue appropriate notifications as required by the district policy state law health department or any other regulatory authority; collect routinely review and evaluate immunization records and exemption requests
12. Follow standardized practices and methods under limited supervision while utilizing time-management strategies to meet deadlines effectively
13. Manage inventory to ensure smooth daycare operations
14. Oversee Daycare Assistants to enhance program effectiveness and adherence to program standards
15. Assist with food and snack preparation to meet the needs of the children
16. Promote good habits and mentor social skills to improve the quality of childrens outcomes and encourage childrens development (e.g. demonstrating good hygiene techniques communication etc.)
17. Provide basic care needs (e.g. toileting diapering changing clothes bottle feeding etc.)
18. Assist in administering first aid as assigned (e.g. scrapes bruises etc.) to meet their immediate health care needs
19. Work collaboratively as part of a team to foster positive working relationships and create a safe positive learning environment. This includes supporting personnel in effectively performing their duties such as assisting in developing and implementing daily activities that meet the needs of children and maintaining an efficient work environment
20. Lead staff meetings to provide critical information conduct training sessions and share essential updates. Additionally participate in assigned meetings workshops and seminars to exchange and gather necessary information vital for fulfilling job functions and responsibilities
21. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
22. As needed roll push pull bend reach stoop and lift up to 50 pounds
23. Communicate with diverse individuals and groups while maintaining confidentiality and building positive relationships with employees and stakeholders
24. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
25. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective function of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds some stooping kneeling crouching and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting 70% walking and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
