Job Description
Employment Status: Part-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: Monday Wednesday and Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (12 hours per week) or 09:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Reports to: Pastor / Parish Administrator
Position Summary
The Janitorial Worker is responsible for the general care cleanliness and basic upkeep of the parish facilities including the church and adoration chapel parish offices (2) parish hall and part of the rectory. This role requires familiarity with cleaning equipment and supplies attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility always in support of the parishs mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and care for assigned areas including dusting and polishing of furniture equipment and other fixtures
- Sanitize pews chairs and kneelers
- Clean all building floors (sweeping mopping and vacuuming)
- Polish seal and strip floors
- Clean all windows glass partitions and mirrors
- Clean and resupply restrooms
- Gather and empty trash bins
- Check grounds for litter/garbage and unsafe conditions
- Stock and maintain all custodial supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner including paper toiletries lighting cleaning chemicals and other supplies
- Identify and report building and ground issues in need of repair or attention to Parish administrator or designated supervisor
- Observe and adhere to all safe work and health policies and regulations
Qualifications
- High School Diploma GED or equivalent is required
- Prior custodian / janitorial experience preferred
- Knowledge and/ or experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Experience with operating various cleaning equipment
- Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision
- Must be proactive in support of the Parish purpose goals policies and programs
- Must possess good interpersonal communication skills
- Must complete and pass VIRTUS training and criminal background check
Physical Demands/ Work Environment
- This position involves physical activity such as lifting bending and standing for extending periods.
- Regular exposure to cleaning supplies and maintenance-related tasks
- Work takes place in a church environment that includes sacred spaces and active parish programming
