The Vice President Business Development & Strategy for Pfizer Global Supply (PGS) is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of PGSs global business development agenda. This includes leading cross-functional initiatives such as site divestitures localization strategies licensing and acquisition opportunities and strategic partnerships that align with Pfizers enterprise goals and supply network evolution.
Strategic Leadership:
Lead the development and execution of PGSs business development strategy ensuring alignment with Pfizers Purpose Blueprint and enterprise priorities. Lead projects and coach team to lead BD and other complex projects generally involving interactions with external third parties.
Business Development Execution:
Oversee the full lifecycle of BD initiatives with a manufacturing and supply component including:
- Initial options development and feasibility
- Due diligence and business case development
- Complex contract negotiations
- Post-deal governance and onboarding including tech transfers and alliance management
Divestitures & Localization:
Lead PGSs manufacturing plant acquisitions divestitures and localization efforts including market preparation site marketing and post-deal transition services.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Responsible for the PGS Business Development Committee aligned with Corporate Policy 105 with scope including but not limited to:
Acquisition of assets or equity interest of a third-party entity
In-license of Strategic Assets
Out-license of Strategic Assets
Site Divestitures
BaU Localizations
Divestiture or sale of Strategic Assets to a third party
Co-Development Co-Promotion and Co-Marketing Agreements
Technology platforms which include commercial supply assumptions
Complex Localizations
Evaluation of large strategic PC1 deals
Partner with key stakeholders across Business Development. Finance Legal Quality Procurement External Supply Global Technology and Engineering People Experience Corporate Affairs and Digital to ensure seamless execution of strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership:
Manage and develop a high-performing team across global and local BD portfolios. Foster a culture of innovation agility and accountability. Advise and shape projects across the portfolio.
Enterprise & Partner Engagement:
Serve as the primary PGS interface to Worldwide Business Development (WWBD) and other enterprise functions ensuring strategic alignment and shared value creation. Build and maintain C suite relationships with a broad mix of external partners.
Serve as the primary business development advisor as part of PGS Network Strategy evaluations and options.
Bachelors degree required
15 years of experience in strategy business development or operations within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry with advancing complexity
Proven track record of leading complex cross-functional strategic initiatives involving third parties.
Deep understanding of supply chain dynamics manufacturing operations and regulatory environments
Strong financial acumen and experience in deal structuring and negotiation
Exceptional leadership communication and stakeholder management skills both inside and outside Pfizer
Experience managing cross-functional teams
Global mindset with experience working across diverse geographies and cultures
Experience with site divestitures localization and post-merger integration
Board-level or governance experience in manufacturing or healthcare sectors
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers develop and coach others oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
Advanced degree in Business Science or Engineering
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel 50% of time
