Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean/Director of Recruitment & Equity the Associate Dean Admission provides strategic leadership for all on-campus and off-campus recruitment and yield events. The Associate Dean oversees the Campus Visit team and leads the planning and execution of campus tours open houses overnight programs and regional receptions. As a member of the Enrollment Senior Leadership Team the Associate Dean contributes to broader enrollment strategy and decision-making. The Associate Dean supervises and mentors junior admission staff while also managing recruitment territory and evaluating first-year and transfer applications. The Associate Dean collaborates closely with campus partners and uses data and technology to enhance recruitment efforts and improve event outcomes.
Job Duties
- 20% - Lead the development and execution of all campus visit programs including daily tours open houses classroom visits overnight stays and specialized visit experiences. Supervise the Campus Visit team and ensure events align with enrollment strategy and institutional branding. - (Essential)
- 20% - Review and evaluate first-year and transfer applications and provide final admission decisions. Serve as a senior member of the admissions committee with the authority to make and sign off on admission recommendations. - (Essential)
- 15% - Plan and implement strategic off-campus events including 1012 regional yield receptions each spring and 1012 summer send-off events. Oversee event logistics coordinate venues and volunteers and ensure alignment with enrollment goals. - (Essential)
- 15% - Provide direct supervision and professional development support to 23 junior-level admission counselors. - (Essential)
- 10% - Serve as the primary admission representative for an assigned geographic region. Conduct high school visits attend college fairs engage with community-based organizations and develop partnerships to support prospective student engagement. - (Essential)
- 10% - Maintain and develop relationships with school-based counselors athletic directors community-based organizations and applicants at high schools within assigned geographic territories to assess invitations for college fairs and information sessions and to build a schedule of campus visits. Work closely with campus partners including faculty staff Facilities and Campus Dining to coordinate the planning and execution of on-campus events. - (Essential)
- 5% - Collect and analyze data on enrollment events and recruitment territories using technology and the admission database to identify target audiences facilitate communication compile reports and make data-driven adjustments as needed. - (Essential)
- % - Participate in the rotation as the Admission Officer (AO) of the Day presenting information sessions and responding to questions from prospective students and families visiting campus emailing inquiries or calling the Office of Admission. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in related field to position duties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of experience in undergraduate higher education with an understanding of a residential liberal arts education will be valued in the selection process.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with CRM software preferably Technolutions Slate.
- Valid California drivers license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint) Google drives/folders/forms Adobe Acrobat Web Editing and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally in writing and electronically. Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.

- Ability to provide employee development training and opportunities for direct reports to demonstrate performance achievement and success recognizing performance of both above standards and needs improvement and respond accordingly. Skilled at communicating feedback verbally in writing and electronically; and documenting performance via introductory and annual performance appraisals.
- Skilled in developing and determining corrective employment/performance/behavioral
strategies as needed. Demonstrated ability to design and execute performance improvement plans conducting disciplinary action and/or determining the appropriateness of employment continuation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in liberal arts communications marketing or other fields related to position responsibilities.
- Experience in strategic admissions roles.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE:$68640/yr-$90000/yr
If you are offered this position at Occidental College your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills education experience and/or geographic location. In addition to those factors Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
