An exciting opportunity exists within the Biodiversity and Vegetation Mapping Team in a role that will guide and deliver environmental remote sensing products across the agency. The Biodiversity and Vegetation Mapping Team values a culture of shared knowledge and skills working collaboratively from a range of locations across NSW.
About You
The Remote Sensing Scientist will contribute to multiple programs responsible for the delivery of a range of high-quality vegetation and biodiversity map products that support environmental outcomes for NSW government. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved with the development and maintenance of the State-wide Vegetation Type Map (SVTM) and other map products that involve the use of image interpretation skills and an understanding of native vegetation and landscape patterns. The Remote Sensing Scientist also provides scientific/technical image interpretation skills and undertakes procedures to deliver geo-processed data and related products.
You will bring your passion for science and the environment combined with your technical skills in remote sensing and GIS to be directly involved in programs that contribute to government decision making and on ground environmental outcomes.
You will be keen to learn new skills and share your knowledge in joining a team of remote sensing and imagery interpretation experts distributed across NSW. This provides opportunities to gain a range of experience across multiple programs and further develop your career. You will have the option of working from the office or combining office and working from home.
