Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Experience or training in a school security-related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the noted knowledge skills and abilities.
- Must possess knowledge of and the ability to apply standard security procedures and best practices.
- Must possess the ability to acquire knowledge of School Committee policies and procedures and Student Rights and Responsibilities.
- Demonstrated strong computer skills.
Reports to:Principal/Deputy-Director and Vocational Deans
Summary of Job Description:The School Security Monitor is part of the security team and administrative staff regarding security-related matters. A majority of this monitors job is performed in the female restrooms and female locker room.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the implementation of overall building security strategies on a daily basis.
- Regularly monitors female restrooms and female locker room before and after school and throughout the school day.
- Reviews reports documentation and evidence compiled by school security team members before submission to the administrative staff.
- Attends regular staff meetings with security team at Northeast Metro Tech to reinforce training and discuss current issues.
- Reviews the video surveillance system during investigations and when directed.
- Attends full staff meetings at Northeast.
- Understands the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Director or his/her designee.

- Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff the school community and town/city officials.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and policies.

- Ability to communicate with students and parents/guardians.
- Ability to engage in physical activity such as standing for prolonged periods of time walking and climbing stairs (Endurance Test required annually).
- Auditory requirements include the ability to work in a loud environment.
- Visual requirements include the ability to judge distances and recognize students from a distance.
Evaluation:Annual evaluation by the Principal/Deputy-Director or designee in accordance with provisions of School Committee Policy.
Terms of Employment:10 month position (School Year only)
