Job Description

The pre-operative team works with the surgical and anesthesia teams to prepare patients for surgery. The post-surgery team supports patients after surgery monitoring their recovery and providing clear instructions for ongoing care and expectations.

Responsibilities of the Unit Coordinator position include but are not limited to:

  • Answers incoming calls from the public and doctors answering inquiries taking messages or connecting party to desired or proper destination. Greets physicians patients and families and provides available information as appropriate.
  • Prioritizes duties and assists Charge Nurse with managing patient flow.
  • Accurately admits discharges/transfers patient in EMR. Updates census board to reflect patients and doctors names. Prepares patient charts accurately and efficiently.
  • Inputs and tracks requests in computer when transcribing orders (lab x-ray dietary Central Supply etc.).
  • Enters nourishment/supply orders when requested by Charge Nurse being mindful of budgetary restrictions.
  • Follows up on inadequate or erroneous data in a timely concise and thorough manner. Enters work orders in a timely manner following up with Nurse Manager.
  • Identifies and responds to or reports pertinent information regarding unit patient and charge collection and input status problems and anticipated problems in an accurate complete concise timely and courteous manner while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Carries out delegated patient care activities such as assisting with ambulating and transporting patients preparing patients for surgery etc. as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Checks and monitors supplies and nourishments and restocks as necessary. Maintains par levels as appropriate. Completes these tasks early in the shift consistently. Reports broken or damaged equipment and enters work orders as needed.
  • Cleans and prepares assigned work area/rooms; collects and bags soiled items and changes linen as necessary.
  • Delivers and receives items (blood specimens medicines etc.) to and from other departments as necessary and as delegated by the nurse. Assures that items are labeled appropriately.
  • Complete Bioimpedance testing as ordered by the physician.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Womans Hospital.

Hours

Monday-Friday 5:00am to 1:00pm

Pay

$12.27 - $17.33
