Your mission

International civil societyorganisations((I)CSOs)operatein an increasingly complex uncertain and often challenging environment. Shrinking civic space political and financial pressures technological disruption and evolving societal expectations require CSOs to reflect not only on how to respond to current challenges but also how to shape the future they want to see.

Under the Futures of ICSOs initiativetheICSCentresupports (I)CSOs in implementing the transformational changes needed within their organisations to become more agile respond to emergingrealitiesand carve future-fit roles for themselves. This includes our continuing work on power shift and fostering inclusive and diverse governance models and supporting transformational journeys toward localisation. As part of the initiative theICSCentrehosts theScanning the Horizoncommunity the only collaborative trend scouting and analysis platform in the civil society sector. The communityconvenesfuturists strategists trend analysts and organisational learning and research specialists form a cross-sector community of experts and practitioners which share insights explore keytrendsand develop relevant strategies.Within thisinitiativetheICSCentresupports organisations in exploring long-term perspectivesand rolesand developing proactive approaches to future challenges and opportunities. Scenario development is a proven tool tofacilitatesuch forward-looking thinking allowing organisations to envision and prepare for differentpossible futures.

By developingan outlineand conceptoffour compelling coherent and inspirational scenarios for civil society in 20 years this project aims to spark dialogue and help build a shared positive vision for civil societys role and impact in the world.

Your profile

Theconsultancy work isexpected to take placebetweenAugustandSeptember 2025 with the following key milestones:


The consultancy is expected to require approximately5-8working days.
