Seeking full-time Child Life Specialist to provide perioperative assessments and ongoing psychosocial interventions at our pediatric ambulatory surgery location. This well-established role facilitates developmentally appropriate psychosocial and emotional support to pediatric patients and their families throughout the perioperative experience. The Ambulatory Surgery Child Life Specialist works closely with a multidisciplinary team including surgeons anesthesiologists nurses and other allied health professionals to ensure a seamless child-centered experience. A key component of this role involves leading and supporting parent-present induction utilizing evidence-based strategies to minimize fear distress and emotional medical trauma.
The Child Life Specialist focuses on adapting care for neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive children including development of individualized preparation tools and strategies. The Specialist takes an active role in enhancing the patient and family experience through preoperative tours ongoing projects aimed at accessibility emotional safety and patient satisfaction.
Works as part of the Child Life team to plan and facilitate special events donations and other departmental projects.
Verbal and written communication skills ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in stressful environment are all important to the success of this role
Additional Job Description
Education: Minimum Requirements: A masters degree in child Life is preferred or a Bachelors Degree in Child Life with 2 years of experience.Child Life internship and ACLP Child Life Certification (or eligibility) is required.
