Job Description

MA Science or Social StudiesTeacher

  • Full Time Position with benefits
  • Start Date: July 25 2025
  • Application Deadline: July 31 2025

Qualifications

  • Current Tennessee Teaching Certificate with endorsement in grades 7-12
  • Endorsement can be in either Science or Social Studies
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience teaching in grades 6-8 or 9-12 preferred
  • Experience with multiple grade levels preferred

Overview of Teaching Expectations at MaryvilleAcademy

MaryvilleAcademy serves as the alternative school for Maryville City Schools. We serve students in 6-12 grade. Students come to MA for a number of reasons and typically need more support behaviorally and academically. We have a strong team and have high expectations to deliver strong instruction that meet the demands of state standards while also managing a classroom of diverse learners. We strive to be the best at classroom management strategies in order to build skills in students to be more successful as they return to their base schools and also be great at differentiated instruction. Our job as educators is to create lessons support scenarios and build environments that promote productive struggles that lead to dynamic student products.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with administrator instructional team and support personnel to plan and implement programs and activities for students and the school community
  • Deliver dynamic instruction that meets state standards
  • Develop trust and rapport with students
  • Work within the systems in place to support behavior change and track behavioral data
  • Utilize technology to create a blended instructional learning environment
  • Analyze student data on a consistent basis to meet the individual needs of students and deliver appropriate instruction
  • Be an active member of the faculty and staff
  • Create and maintain a positive classroom climate through effective classroom management; supervise the proper care of school property
  • Be self-reflective by participating in personal professional growth activities to learn new skills and improve teaching
  • Promote positive student parent and community relationships through using effective written and oral communication
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
