Anticipated 2025-2026 Reading Specialist - Page County Middle School

Full-time ten month position serving Middle School students as a Reading Specialist. This position is a fully benefited position. Individuals without a current license may be considered pending acceptable credentials and pursuit of a teaching license.

ESSENTIAL TASKS/JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Direct Instruction of Students will provide direct instruction in the areas of Reading and Writing for identified groups and individual students
• Identify literature for use in all content areas in support of the curriculum
• Provide curriculum support and training for all teachers and continuous staff development that support school division initiatives
• Collaborate with and coach teachers on the use of assessment data to plan instruction; analyze school literacy data and plan for future literacy needs
• Provide ongoing training and follow-up in the use of assessment tools
• Participate in collaborative instructional planning
• Assess students using a variety of measures to determine appropriate placement and specific instructional needs
• Participate in parent meetings IEP meetings etc. to provide instruction suggestions
• Work collaboratively with the building administration to review data to develop and assist in building level professional development
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a Masters Degree and be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement as a Reading Specialist
• Have at least three years of successful Elementary classroom teaching experience
• Have experience in lesson planning and curriculum development
• Have experience and expertise in using technology in education including the use of Google Drive for Instruction collaboration and course work
• Have effective written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with teachers parents/families and administrative staff
• Demonstrate the ability to be dependable and punctual
