Job Description
Respiratory Therapist ICU (Permanent Role)
Location: Plano TX 75093
Shift: 12 HR Days 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: (12 hours/week)
Compensation: Based on experience
- Deliver respiratory care services including oxygen therapy aerosol therapy and airway clearance.
- Administer inhaled medications and ventilation support.
- Perform bedside spirometry as ordered by the physician.
- Evaluate physician orders and test results to determine therapy needs.
- Implement and follow clinical protocols under physician guidance.
- Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergencies.
- Assess patient responses and provide coaching on respiratory equipment use.
- Document treatments and procedures accurately in the medical record.
- Report outcomes of therapeutic interventions and recommend care adjustments.
- Maintain compliance with infection control HIPAA isolation procedures and other hospital policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals peers and students in a respectful and team-oriented manner.
- Stay up to date with technical and professional requirements.
- Support and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy modalities and equipment.
- Ability to follow clinical protocols and adapt in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in electronic medical records and general computer skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking time management and patient-care skills.
- Education: Associates Degree (or equivalent 2 years of related work experience)
- Experience: Less than 1 year of direct respiratory therapy experience accepted
- Licensure & Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Required within 30 days of hire
- RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner) Licensed by Texas State
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) Certified
