Job Description

Position Classification & Compensation
This role is classified as a non-exempt full-time employee as those terms are defined in the
Centers Employee Handbook and is eligible for employee benefits as defined for this classification.

Reports to: Early Childhood Director

Salary:Starting at $17 per hour

Summary
The HOPES Family Support Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with
families social service agencies stakeholders and the general community. This individual will conduct
systems-building and family engagement/education activities for families. The scope of work is subject
to change as needed to ensure the projects success and to meet funders requirements. Likewise
complementary changes may be made to projects or individual goals and employee expectations based on
agency/management strategic goals. All Center for Children team members are expected to be collegial
and collaborative mutually supportive and focused on excellent services to clients fidelity to program
models and ethical provision of services.

Please note: This position may evolve over time and duties may be adjusted to meet program or organizational needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Create and maintain relationships with families social service agencies stakeholders and the general
community.
2. Become Parent Caf Hosts through Be Strong Families to implement the Parent Caf model in the
community.
3. Recruit for and lead Parent Cafs and Provider Cafs workshops.
4. Provide technical assistance to individuals and organizations implementing the model within our
community.
5. Recruit and support local parents to become volunteers and active leaders through the Family
Advisory Council (the local name for our Parent Advisory Council).
6. Participate in Help Me Grow and the Strong Families Workgroup/Coalition to Prevent Child Abuse to
provide information on Parent Cafs and Help Me Grow initiatives.
7. Promote Help Me Grow components Family Advisory Council and Parent Caf
8. Participate in ongoing ECSB program planning monitoring and evaluation activities.
9. Conduct outreach activities to engage and recruit families and community partners. Outreach
activities can include health fairs presentations meetings marketing campaigns etc.
10. Develop and sustain positive relationships with a range of people including residents community
leaders local groups and organizations and local authorities.
11. Work as part of a team to support and sustain community-led action around issues related to child
abuse and maltreatment prevention. (We are a prevention program)
12. Educate community members and stakeholders about El Paso Center for Childrens services through
flyers posters social media and networking with residents local groups and organizations.
13. Work as part of a team to organize and hold events that draw in and involve local residents and
partners.
14. Support face-to-face online and print communication and marketing activities.
15. Work in different environments (both office-based and on the ground) at times best suited to the
community (including some evenings and weekends)
16. Participate in ongoing program planning monitoring and evaluation activities.
17. Perform other assignments as determined by the Program Manager or designated personnel.
18. Participate in the Performance and Quality Improvement processes ensuring services are being
delivered with fidelity tothe model and contractual/licensing obligations.

Skills
Must become an expert in the funders RFP the grant application and the expectations of this
role as initially designed to provide Parent Cafes Provider Cafes and other required services.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to diverse individuals at all
organizational levels.

A strong results orientation openness to new ideas and a proven ability to deliver a consistently
high quality of service to external and internal work partners.

and support build and foster teamwork and collaboration during times of change.
Must exhibit active listening skills for clients and be non-judgmental of clients situations.
Exceptional organizational skills required for projects with diverse participating entities and
stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in social services or a related field and at least one year of relevant program
experience is preferred. Experience for education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis if
the person holding the family support specialist position does not have a bachelors degree.
Ability to read write and speak English and Spanish (preferred).
Computer skills including proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite of business
applications: Word Excel and PowerPoint.
Good time management organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate
effectively with individuals from all walks of life.
Must have drivers license vehicle in safe operating condition and maintain proof of current
insurance at Texas minimum standards.
Must be able and willing to travel for trainings/meetings/conferences.
Must be able to walk sit stand and lift and carry at least 25 pounds.

Flexibility
Every program at the Center is community and client-centric. Working with diverse partners to meet
the needs of families in our community demands flexibility. The scope of work is subject to change
based on the teams performance and the funders expectations and on agency/management strategic
goals. The flexibility needed in this role includes scheduling meetings/events/activities scheduling
supervision sessions with staff training staff meetings and out-of-town travel for training and/or
grant requirements.
