Job Description

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU) a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia invites applications for the position of Customer Service Specialist - Part-Time.

Fort Valley State University the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County the original site of the states peach industry. Its 1365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgias second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Customer Service Specialist is responsible for answering inbound calls providing accurate information and transferring calls to the appropriate offices and university stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide FVSU stakeholders with specific information regarding areas being serviced (financial aid admissions registrar bursar and/or housing).
  • Work as a team with other office team members.
  • Properly document all concerns provided during phone calls.
  • Always maintain professionalism in every telephone conversation.
  • Maintain an active working knowledge of the universitys mission goals academic curriculum student programs and campus life.
  • Convey current information on events taking place on the Universitys campus in an intelligent and friendly manner.
  • Always speak positively about Fort Valley State University.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma.
  • One (1) year of relevant customer setting experience.
  • Motivated and Enthusiastic.
  • Reliable and Punctual.
  • Honest and Cooperative.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and must be able to speak clearly.
  • Use appropriate grammar and pronunciation.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Professional and/or volunteer experience working directly with the public.
  • Experience or training in sales marketing fundraising or public relations
  • Ability to organize and present facts in a concise and persuasive manner.
  • Ability to record data accurately.
  • Ability to work in a Microsoft Windows environment.
