Job Description
Unfortunately we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
Working hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant within Clinical Genetics you will assist in the accession handling and sample processing of samples received including Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) referrals and DNA extraction.
- Receipt and handling of samples ensure that samples are labelled accurately
- Perform downstream processing of clinical samples
- Ensure that all work is done in compliance with ISO 15189 requirements
- Follow standard operating procedure (SOPs) and instructions
- Operate liquid handling robots PCR thermal cyclers and NGS machines
- Keeping laboratory records up to date
Qualifications :
- Educated to degree level in a related field
- Understanding of general molecular biology techniques (including PCR RNA/DNA extraction quantification)
- Knowledge of genetics and genomics
- Computer literate
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational multi-tasking and time management skills
- Committed to customer care
