The Patient Account Representative virtually works directly with patients to help manage questions and resolve issues regarding insurance billing and payments. This key member of the Revenue Cycle team is a problem-solver who enjoys communicating with patients providing information resolving complaints and accepting payments. The Patient Account Representative is the subject matter for handling repayment options financial assistance and claims resubmission.

While this is a remote position the Patient Account Representative will be required to live in Washington state or Texas by time of hire.

What youll do:

  • Maintain and update patient accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

  • Review patient accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues promptly.

  • Ensure all account activities comply with federal state and organizational policies.

  • Work closely with clinical front desk and billing teams to resolve account-related issues.

  • Generate patient statements and invoices; follow up on outstanding balances through patient communication and payment arrangements.

  • Partner with Revenue Cycle Specialists to resolve claim denials or payment discrepancies.

  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing payments or account balances in a professional and timely manner.

  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for services provided as needed.

  • Ensure proper documentation for pre-authorizations referrals or other payer requirements as needed.

  • Receive and process payments from patients and insurance companies.

  • Post payments and adjustments to accounts in the billing system.

What youll bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

  • Two years of experience in medical billing collections or patient account management.

  • Strong knowledge of medical billing codes (CPT ICD-10) and insurance processes.

  • Proficiency in healthcare billing systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing excellent service.

  • Three years administrative or customer service experience in a healthcare setting. (Preferred)

  • Associates degree in healthcare administration business or a related field. (Preferred)

Working Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting within a healthcare organization which may include proximity to patient care areas.

  • The work environment is quiet but may involve some interruptions high-paced demands and interactions with various departments.

  • Occasional travel may be .

  • This role will require the ability to navigate within clinical or administrative areas of a healthcare organization.

Physical Requirements

  • This is primarily a sedentary role with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Ability to life or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds; occasionally may need to bend stoop or reach to retrieve items.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates geographic location market conditions and specific skills and experience.

National Plus Salary Range:

$49700.00 - $74600.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
