JOB TITLE: Supply Chain Planner

DEPARTMENT: Perioperative Supply Chain

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital - 1425 Portland Avenue
Rochester NY 14621

HOURS PER WEEK: 40

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday Standard Business Hours

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing support and analysis of all information from the Materials Management Information Systems (MMIS) while concurrently facilitating the reporting needs to meet current and future business demands. The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for analyzing operational and performance data for the site including the development and maintenance of departmental KPI reports and ADHOC reporting to support business requests. This role involves making data-driven decisions to optimize inventory levels support demand forecasting and ensure service level expectations are met. Serving as a key member of the system supply chain team the Supply Chain Planner supports the implementation and continuous improvement of the inventory management system including integrations with customer point-of-use. The Supply Chain Planner is also accountable for leading or co-leading supply chain optimization projects ensuring high-level visibility to leadership and aligning materials management with strategic system-wide objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining reports that monitor the performance of departmental metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the onsite Material Management team.
  • Performs ADHOC reporting as requested and extracts data from multiple sources as needed to support business demands.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to understand business needs analyze data and generate useful business reports that inform decision-making.
  • Utilizes all available resources and tools to provide quality and operationally driven data ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Appropriately and efficiently utilizes all applicable Materials Management systems.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of system upgrades and training requirements and resolves integration issues between systems like Workday and CareConnect.
  • Functions as the lead point of contact to keep team members up to date on the latest process changes ensuring consistent communication and understanding of new practices.
  • Maintains and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on business changes and process improvements in collaboration with the Materials Manager.
  • Supports and leads lean projects based on MMIS data identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements with input and support from the Materials Manager.
  • Strictly maintains the security and confidentiality of all information promoting a culture of integrity and confidentiality across the team.
  • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with clinical teams Materials Management and Supply Chain team members to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Analyzes and recommends inventory levels based on demand forecasting.
  • Reviews and sets Min/Max thresholds and ensures alignment with operational needs.
  • Leads or co-leads supply chain optimization projects making data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the system.
  • Engages in medium to long-term planning activities including demand forecasting procurement planning and supply balancing making key decisions to ensure service levels and inventory accuracy.
  • Monitors key supply chain metrics such as forecast accuracy inventory turns service levels and item utilization driving continuous improvement.
  • Develops job aids and provides training for clinical and materials management teams ensuring smooth adoption of new processes and system integrations.
  • Reviews open orders such as Bill Only and collaborates with the purchasing team to resolve any pending approval issues.
  • Maintains and analyzes large-scale data creating complex reports using advanced Excel Macros and BI tools (e.g. Qlik SQL) to drive data-driven insights.
  • Tracks preference card utilization through regular reports and recommends adjustments to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Leaders Purchasing Informatics and Finance teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of materials management strategies.
  • Anticipates potential issues and implements proactive plans by identifying root causes documenting findings and collaborating across teams to resolve challenges.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Business Computer Science or Engineering Information Technology Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • 1 years of experience in data business or system analysis required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree in Business Computer Science or Engineering Information Technology Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Materials and Resource Professional preferred (CMRP) preferred.
  • Data warehouse experience preferred with advanced excel skills (pivot macro etc).
  • 2 years prior experience as a Business or System Analyst preferred.
  • Experience with Workday and EPIC systems is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare supply chain preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills and the ability to work with a team at all level of an organization.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to both external customers and internal team members.
  • Strong attention to detail.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience relevant qualifications specialty internal equity location and contracts.
