Job Description

Job Summary

Maintains accountability for the supervision and operation of a specific area of expertise. Promotes team efforts to manage and achieve departmental/corporate objectives. Coordinates process improvement activities resolves human capital issues and assists with program development in area of accountability. Works with multiple medication automation systems. Ensures department and personnel compliance with current regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Provides appropriate supervision and direction to pharmacists technicians residents interns and other support personnel.
  • Responsible for human capital issues involving supervised team members; to include but not limited to hiring mentoring development evaluations and performance management.
  • Develops and maintains standards for area of accountability and communicates those standards to the staff.
  • Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain the professional competence knowledge and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education including department and Corewell Health specific requirements on a timely basis.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients / family / significant others / members of the health care team in order to optimize outcomes and appropriate use of medications.
  • Participates in the scheduling of pharmacy staff including but not limited to schedule development completion of daily assignments and/or staffing changes for sick/call-in coverage.
  • Participates in process improvement activities. Continuously monitors quality cost effectiveness and efficiency in area of accountability and identifies trends. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations organizational policy and accreditation / compliance requirements.
  • Provides support for patient care treatment and services. Consults on drug therapy drug regimen reviews and drug utilization reviews. Consults on research projects and other matters related to pharmacology.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • LIC-Clinical Pharmacist - STATEMI State of Michigan 90 Days required And
  • LIC-Pharmacist Controlled Substance - STATEMI State of Michigan 90 Days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Variable by department 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Variable by department 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association Variable by department 180 Days required Or
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Variable by department 180 Days required

Preferred

  • 1 year of relevant skills knowledge abilities gained through at least 1 year of related lead or supervisory experience
  • Inpatient pharmacy experience
