Hosted by Pobl: Care & Repair Newport is a small independent agency hosted by Pobl Group. They help older people living in Newport to repair maintain and adapt their homes. Youll have the best of both worlds: autonomy to make a difference locally with the backing of a wider organisation.
Where does this role fit in
Youll visit clients in their homes to understand their needs and assess properties for basic issues and required adaptations. Youll provide clear practical advice on minor adaptations (such as handrails or ramps) essential repairs and general home safety improvements. Supporting clients to access funding- whether through grants charitable help or welfare supportwill be a key part of the role. Youll also prepare schedules of work drawings and simple specifications to help deliver small to medium works. Liaising with contractors ensuring work meets expected standards and keeping clients informed and reassured throughout the process are all important responsibilities. Where appropriate youll also signpost clients to wider services including housing care or health support.
What skills and experience do you need
Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of basic property condition surveys home adaptations and small repair works.
Trusted Communicator: Confident in speaking with older and vulnerable clients explaining technical issues in plain supportive language and helping them feel reassured and involved throughout the process.
Stakeholder management: Skilled in liaising with contractors writing reports and keeping accurate records.
Problem-Solving Attitude: Practical hands-on and solutions-focused with the ability to make appropriate recommendations.
Team Player: Comfortable working independently in the field while contributing to a close-knit team.
IT & Organisation: Confident with basic Microsoft Office and able to manage multiple cases effectively.
What are the pay and benefits
The exact salary for this role is 19754 for a 22.5 hour part time permanent position
Flexible working policies we are hybrid working. Base location is Newport.
26 days holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays rising to 30 days with length of service(Pro rata)
A driver with access to a vehicle and business insurance is required for this role
The successful candidate will need a basic DBS check in place which we pay for.
