DescriptionThe Patient Activity Therapist designs coordinates and implements a comprehensive program which integrates the principles and theories of recreation therapy. Relies on education experience and judgment to accomplish job. Works under general supervision. Creativity and some latitude are expected to complete responsibilities.

- Evaluation and Planning: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Individual and group therapeutic activities relative to patient functioning are effectively organized planned and implemented at all times.
- Appropriate interest assessment is provided and data based on patient status accurately interpreted to meet the specific needs of each individual at all times.
- Special events including seasonal decorations are effectively planned and implemented at all times.
- Active participation in departmental and organizational quality improvement initiatives is provided as requested.
- Patient Care: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Appropriate individual and group treatment sessions based on functional goals are planned and implemented as evidenced by chart review.
- Patient activities are provided within the daily programming schedules at all times.
- Leisure materials appropriate to the patients level of understanding and motivation are provided at all times as evidenced by less than 5 complaints a year.
- As a patient advocate works collaboratively to solve problems improves processes develop services as requested.
- Documentation: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Treatment plan documentation incorporating premorbid preferences is completed interests and participation level and updates according to patient needs and organizational expectations at all times. Care plan is updated daily (M-F) and signed by charge nurse.
- 5 day 14 day and 30 day MDS (as required) on each patient seen is accurately completed with set time frames 100% of the time.
- Interest Assessment are accurately completed at all times as evidenced by chart review.
- Other Duties as Assigned: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Assistance is provided in yearly state inspection as requested.
- Other duties as assigned are completed.
Qualifications- Bachelors Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field. One year experience in therapeutic recreation. Appropriate certification preferred.
