Location: Brisbane Melbourne or Sydney

About the Role
As the National Head of Department Design (Visual Communication) you will provide academic leadership and drive the strategic development of our Design program across all three campuses. This role is responsible for the curriculums quality consistency and industry relevance as well as supporting student engagement growth and retention. You will lead a national team of talented lecturers delivering the Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) and its nested awards.
Whats involved
- Leading and mentoring academic staff across campuses promoting collaboration and innovation
- Overseeing curriculum development and embedding emerging design fields such as UX/UI AR/VR AI in Design Illustration and Sustainable Design
- Driving quality and consistency in teaching learning and assessment
- Building strong industry partnerships to enhance student learning and internship opportunities
- Collaborating with internal teams on initiatives to showcase student work and build program engagement
- Monitoring student satisfaction engagement and outcomes with a continuous improvement mindset
- Recruiting and supporting a passionate and highly skilled teaching team
- Promoting scholarly activity and professional development across the department
Are you who we are looking for
Youll know this role is for you if you:
- Hold a Masters degree (or higher) in Design Visual Communication or a closely related discipline
- Have 5 years experience in a similar academic leadership role ideally across multiple campuses
- Demonstrate deep industry knowledge and maintain currency in design trends and technologies
- Have a track record of high-quality course leadership and curriculum development
- Are passionate about student-centered education and mentoring emerging creatives
- Have experience building industry networks and creating real-world opportunities for students
- Communicate clearly and confidently with students staff and industry stakeholders
- Have or are willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
