Our team plays a crucial role in protecting the integrity of eBays platform tasked with developing advanced systems against threats like fraud and abuse. As the Senior Engineering Manager you will steer high-performing teams in driving strategic product initiatives and roadmap development while collaborating extensively across business units to enhance risk management solutions.
What will you do
Hands-on thought leadership for building Risk solutions.
Own the end-to-end delivery of the risk product development roadmap.
Design build and operate mission-critical systems such as Decisioning Engines Model-Driven Decisioning Pipelines leveraging real-time and batch processing Feature Engineering Platforms capable of computing features at scale Internal tooling to enable efficient policy management and risk operations.
Lead & Build platform frameworks and infrastructure using technologies including Java Spring Python DBMS NoSQL Kafka Apache Flink Spark Hadoop and more.
Have a proven understanding of Payments or consumer financial products data systems and data environments and processes that are vital for the implementation of Risk and Finance models.
Deep Technical knowledge in architecting designing and Integrating new Solutions for an internet-scale of highly distributed applications.
Work closely with technical leadership across eBay to integrate solutions efficiently.
Work closely with business teams while having a good understanding of how Fraud and Financial loss manifests in Marketplace and Payment Systems.
Provides technical leadership guidance and direction to other team members.
Build prototypes for demonstration and illustration purposes for peer groups Business partners or senior leaders. Influence senior business and technology partners across the organization.
Solving complex problems with datasets and optimizing existing solutions and frameworks.
Develop and nurture a multi-functional team of engineers covering backend data and ML expertise.
Foster a culture of innovation engineering excellence and continuous learning.
Champion best practices in software engineering agile delivery and team dynamics.
What will you bring
Degree in computer science or any equivalent academic qualification with 15 years of software application development experience with at least 6 years of experience as engineering and people leader.
Exceptional skills in collaborating across functional teams and navigating competing priorities.
Strong track record of driving technological direction that contributes to measurable customer improvements.
Experience in managing teams through execution of product roadmap vision.
Enthusiasm for guiding and developing team members; offering support advice and chances to improve their professional skills; capability to lead and encourage team members.
Experienced in building application framework and/or platform development experience.
Deep knowledge in solution design patterns building resilient solutions with security considerations.
Strong programming and system design experience with Java Python Spring Boot and scalable data and streaming architectures.
Experienced in building products and solutions with Machine Learning Frameworks Realtime systems and Big Data technologies such as Hadoop.
Experienced in defining application solution architectures and roadmap.
Strong communication and strategic influencing skills with an executive presence. Must be able to translate and distill complex data concepts to different audiences concisely.
Effective people management skills with the ability to attract retain and inspire a global high-performance engineering team.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Education
Education: Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science & Engineering or equivalent discipline.
