Job Description

Physician Assistant-Surgery (Permanent Role)

Location: Austin TX 78735
Shift: Full Time Days 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Compensation: Based on experience

Essential Functions:
  • Conduct comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and medical histories.
  • Order interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests and lab results.
  • Prescribe or recommend appropriate drug therapies or treatment plans.
  • Perform surgical or medical procedures within the PAs scope of practice.
  • Develop and implement patient treatment plans based on best practices and clinical guidelines.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients and families on medical conditions treatments medications and health promotion.
  • Document treatment plans progress notes and outcomes in the patients medical records.
  • Consult or refer patients when care needs exceed PA scope or expertise.
  • Deliver care in a variety of healthcare settings including clinics hospitals and emergency services.
  • Participate in on-call or extended hours duties as needed.
Key Success Factors:
  • Strong understanding of disease pathology treatment options medications and preventive care.
  • Knowledge of procedures for diagnosing and treating physical/mental conditions.
  • Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced critical thinking and decision-making ability.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare software and electronic health records.
  • Ability to develop outcome-based care plans and monitor treatment effectiveness.
  • Competence in interpreting diagnostic tests and modifying treatment accordingly.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Experience: Less than 1 year of experience
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Physician Assistant License Valid and active in the state of Texas
    • NCCPA Certification Required
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer
