Job Description

General Description

Focused on tool management plays a critical role in facilitating and implementing design and process changes related to the tooling used in manufacturing operations. This role ensures that tooling modifications are accurately documented communicated and integrated into production while minimizing disruptions and maintaining quality standards.

Position Specific Requirements (PSR)

  • Write any needed PCO/ECNs for Service
  • Follow up on any PCO/ECN in Process with documentation in Log and leading ECN meetings
  • Working in customer portals on Creating and Follow Tooling and Equipment Disposition with the customer
  • Work with other Plants to see where reduction of SKUs can take place
  • Preform BOM Audits as requested
  • Manage ECNs related to tooling: Process Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) specifically concerning tooling design materials or manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams: Act as a liaison between engineering production quality control and suppliers to facilitate efficient implementation of tooling changes.
  • Documentation and data management: Maintain accurate documentation of tooling changes including updated drawings specifications work instructions and bills of material (BOMs).
  • Tooling inventory and lifecycle management: Oversee tooling inventory including tracking locations usage maintenance schedules and replacement planning.
  • Implement and monitor quality control: Ensure that tooling changes comply with quality requirements and standards (e.g. ISO 13485 ISO 9001).
  • Support production and process improvements: Identify and address potential issues related to tooling changes such as unexpected delays or quality problems.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders: Keep all relevant parties including internal teams and external partners (suppliers customers) informed about the status and impact of tooling changes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives: Participate in analyzing project performance and identifying opportunities to refine tooling management practices

Experience Education Qualifications

  • Experience: Typically 2 years of experience in project coordination or administrative support within an engineering or technical environment preferably with a focus on tooling or manufacturing.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with tooling design principles manufacturing processes and materials; understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and other engineering software.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks prioritize effectively and maintain meticulous records.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving Skills: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the ECN and tooling implementation process.
  • BA/BS preferred but not required
