ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Interpreter Coordinator will coordinate organize and ensure that interpreting services areprovidedwhen needed to district students staff families and the public. The position serves asa centralpointof contact for interpreting servicesand a support resource for district schools and programs.
- Coordinates district-wideinterpreting services and activities for instructional programs and district staff; createsschedules ensuring interpreting needs are met inschools training meetings etc.
- Works collaboratively with outside agencies and organizations includingindependent contractor interpreters
- Providesdirection to interpreters;establishesschedules and methods forprovidinginterpreting services for students and staff in the educational environment
- Prepares and delivers training for district staff and administrators as needed
- Provides ASL interpretation in an educational setting and for staff as needed
- Maintains knowledge of student and staff accommodation needs and schedules services accordingly
- Serves as liaison to schools community stakeholders and district departments; serves as district point of contact on issuespertaining tointerpreter services
- Performs a variety of office support activities toaccomplishthe requirements of the position;maintainsfiles and assures accuracy and confidentiality
- Participates in the development of budgets and planning and control of budgets; monitors expenditures
- Participates in the evaluation of classified staff
- Maintains exceptional working relationships with staff students and the public
- Performs other related duties
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- National Certification through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- EIPA score of 4.0 or above
- Bachelors Degree or higher
- Minimum 5 yearsdemonstratedsuccessfulexperience as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting; K-12 public school experience preferred
- Demonstratedpreviouscoordination experience and strong organizational skills
- Experience working in MS Office programs
- Effective written oral and signed communication skills and ability to successfully engageprofessionally with a diverse community of students staff parents and community stakeholders
- Ability toestablishand maintain strong positive professional relationships with parents staff students and the public
- Ability to adhere to all applicable Board policies and district requirements and to adhere to all professional guidelines rules laws and regulations related to the sign language interpreter profession
- Demonstrated ability tomaintainconfidentiality and work within designated bounds of authority
- Ability and willingness to work on a flexible schedule if needed.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual American Sign Language
