Communications Officer

Are you at the beginning of your career in Communications and have a passion for storytelling digital media and making a difference in your community

Lancashire County Council is looking for a creative and enthusiasticCommunications Officerto join our busy and supportive communications team on a fixed-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in public sector communications working on real projects that impact the lives of people across Lancashire.

What youll be doing:

  • Supporting the delivery of engaging communications and marketing campaigns across a range of channels from social media and digital content to print and events.
  • Helping to manage the councils reputation through proactive media relations and internal communications.
  • Working with experienced colleagues to develop audience-focused messaging based on research and insights.
  • Creating content that reflects the councils brand and values with clear calls to action and measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent and effective communication.

What were looking for:

  • A recent qualification in communications marketing journalism or a related field.
  • Strong writing editing and proofreading skills.
  • A good understanding of digital and social media platforms.
  • A proactive team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn and contribute.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This role may occasionally require out-of-hours work in response to emergency situations for which time off in lieu will be provided.
