About the role:

Reporting to the Executive Manager Regulatory Engagement and Oversight the Regulatory Engagement and Oversight Lead plays a key role in coordinating and leading activities that support the effective management of the 2022 Industry Regulatory Governance Committee.

This role is responsible for maintaining governance documentation and processes within IRIIS ensuring accuracy accessibility and compliance. Success in this role requires strong collaboration stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence across the business. The Lead uses data to support informed decision-making and is focused on embedding clear practical governance processes that are easy for the business to understand and adopt.

Key Accountabilities:

Governance & Compliance

  • Assist with implementing regulatory and industry changes by helping translate recommendations into clear practical steps across Consumer and Commercial Insurance.
  • Support governance activities by coordinating Committee meetings maintaining records and ensuring frameworks and templates are up to date.
  • Help review regulatory and industry reports summarise key points and support the integration of recommendations into Home Claims Customers processes.
  • Help identify and escalate compliance concerns and support incident owners in managing issues in line with Group standards.
  • Maintain updates in IRIIS and assist with governance documentation and records.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across Consumer Insurance Commercial Insurance and Group Customer to support governance activities.

Industry & Regulatory Engagement

  • Support Home Claims Customers involvement in industry forums including those focused on AI ethics and automation by helping gather information and coordinate contributions.
  • Assist with applying AI ethics standards in Home Claims Customers and support collaboration with relevant working groups.
  • Help draft or coordinate responses to questions or requests from regulators such as ASIC AFCA and CGC.

Strategy Risk & Performance

  • Help identify risks or challenges that may affect the implementation of regulatory recommendations and escalate where needed.
  • Support the development and tracking of performance metrics to monitor progress against recommendation expectations.
  • Work with risk and compliance partners to help monitor progress manage risks and resolve blockers as they arise.
  • Contribute to identifying emerging risks and help with planning and actions to reduce their impact.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of risk initiatives in collaboration with leaders and other teams.

Reporting & Stakeholder Support

  • Help prepare updates and reports for governance forums and leadership teams ensuring accurate and timely information.
  • Support the coordination of inputs for executive reporting including business planning and regulatory updates.

About You:

  • Qualifications within one or more of the following professions: Business Improvement Data Governance or Project Management. Highly regarded
  • 3 years Home Claims experience
  • 5 years commercial experience in insurance or financial services
  • 2 years project delivery and or change management experience (desired)
  • Experience in management of operational response to a large event (desired)

Key Capabilities:

  • Strong Home Claims Process knowledge
  • Competent in using internal project and risk platforms such as IRIIS confluence and JIRA.
  • Demonstrated ability to build practical governance processes aligned with organisational policies and external regulatory expectations
  • Advanced analytical skills to interpret regulatory developments identify implications and support accurate governance aligned decision making
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex regulatory and governance information to a range of audiences including senior stakeholders and committees
  • Ability to plan prioritise and manage governance deliverables ensuring the timely execution of reporting risk reviews and compliance actions
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a focus on influencing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to balance regulatory compliance with customer focused outcomes ensuring governance frameworks are practical fair and aligned with industry expectations
  • Strong time management skills to meet structured governance deadlines such as regulatory reporting cycles audit responses and committee submissions
