TITLE: Part-Time Adult Education High School Credit Instructor (non-certified position)- Multiple Positions Available
HOURS: 12-20 hours/week; daytime and evening hours available
SUPERVISOR: Director of Urbana Adult Education

JOB SUMMARY: The high school credit teacher will demonstrate the knowledge creativity organizational skills rapport-building and cultural understanding necessary to successfully implement a high school diploma/credit-based curriculum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Develop educational plans with students to help them acquire the literacy and workforce skills necessary to earn their high school diploma and transition to a college or career pathway.
- Provide direct instruction to students as assigned by the director.
- Utilize instructional materials methods techniques and resources to assist students in acquiring basic literacy and mathematics skills while working to earn their high school diploma.
- Incorporate curriculum materials that will increase students knowledge of employability skills and responsible citizenship skills.
- Maintain accurate student records including grading attendance curricular needs career goals etc.
- Contact students as needed to encourage good attendance and be knowledgeable about reasons for students absences.
- Document student contacts/communication including information about student progress absences and social/emotional needs.
- Assist with student retention efforts.
- Assist with student assessment; maintain training as required to conduct standardized assessments.
- Maintain good communication with support staff and administration to help students remove barriers to good attendance and achievement of their goals.
- Attend staff meetings and other professional meetings as requested.
- Maintain a personal commitment to lifelong learning and enhancement of professional abilities.
- Communicate and collaborate with all adult education staff to increase awareness of program strengths needs and changes.
- Attend regional and state professional meetings as requested; acquire at least 12 hours of professional development per year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in education or related field is required. Teacher certification is not required.
- Technology/digital literacy proficiency
EXPERIENCE
- Ability to select materials and methods appropriate to diverse physical emotional and cognitive characteristics of adult learners.
- Must demonstrate an ability to accept cultural and ethnic differences and adjust teaching techniques if necessary to create a non threatening atmosphere and foster freedom of expression.

EVALUATION: To be completed by the Director using the districts evaluation instrument.
SALARY RANGE: $32/hour
START DATE: August 2025
