We are looking for a dynamic seasoned reporter to help drive enterprise and original content for all of CBC Manitobas platforms.
Reporting to the Managing Editor you will be responsible for identifying pitching and reporting original and investigative content on digital social video and audio formats.
You have solid investigative skills with a proven ability to break original stories with strong audience impact. You are persistent creative and curious.
Please note this is a one-year full time temporary role.
Key Tasks:
Pitch chase and develop stories
Present information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats video audio and digital.
Follow particular areas of current public interest or concern.
Develop and maintain contacts with a variety of sources.
Conduct analysis of facts and information gathered and draw conclusions or raise issues requiring further investigation.
Gather and report information from various sources.
Filing Freedom of Information Access to Information requests
Contribute ideas or program content; participate in the preparation of newsroom objectives.
What you need:
University degree or college diploma in communications or journalism or equivalent;
Five years journalism experience preferred; proven field skills and knowledge of broadcasting;
Experience with enterprise and in depth news reporting is required;
Knowledge of key issues in Manitoba
Strong investigative news reporting experience;
Excellent general and current-affairs knowledge;
Ability to develop and present news and current-affairs stories;
Proven on-air skills in many formats: interviewing reporting;
Thorough understanding of CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices;
Sound editorial judgment; strong critical and analytical skills;
Ability to work well in a team
Ability to plan organize and co-ordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines; ability to work well under pressure;
Initiative and resourcefulness as well as good interpersonal and communication skills;
