As a Curator Art Collection and Galleries you will:

  • Collaborate closely with artists external stakeholders and internal divisions under the direction of the Senior Manager to curate and deliver exhibitions for the Art Gallery and associated spaces including those that tour to other venues.
  • Project manage end to end delivery of exhibitions including logistics OHSE requirements developing promotional collateral associated publications coordination of internal and external stakeholders artwork loans exhibition agreements and ensure all pre and post exhibition processes are completed.
  • Develop and implement effective practices for the Universitys Art Collection incorporating sourcing new works for the collection care maintenance audit labelling cataloguing and research of artworks as well as coordinating loans condition reporting relocation and installation of artworks on campus and city centres including large scale sculptures.

To be successful youll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience (for example completion of a Fine Arts Degree or equivalent and/ or progress toward a Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies or equivalent formal qualifications); or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience in planning installation of artworks and delivering exhibitions and events utilising spaces expertise and physical and digital resources.
  • Experience in a similar or related role within a public gallery or University environment. Experience in the use of art collection database software for example experience in the use of Vernon would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in the manual handling of art objects and exhibition support materials the installation and dismantling of art exhibitions and the packing and unpacking of art objects and exhibitions. A current Elevated Work Platform licence would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary art curatorial practices for exhibition development and art collection purposes.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching and writing database catalogue entries promotional materials publications and catalogues to museum industry standards.
  • Knowledge of Australian contemporary art.
