Job Description
Materials Manager exercises material management/supervision and assumes responsibility for the effective administration of the materials dept. Works with all personnel in accomplishing plant objectives. Holds monthly department meetings to report expectation and review published action items. This role will have a min of 3-5 years related experience and or Bachelors degree (BA) and or combination of experience training and education. Ability to communicate within a management team and with customers effectively.
Essential functions of this position include but not exclusive to the following:
Accept the responsibility of being a channel of communication between employees and management responding to question and concerns and needs of all Employees.
Fulfill responsibility as active management team member committed to continually contributing ideas suggestions and input/comments for improvement of plant operations.
Administer management activities in accordance with plant and company policies enforcing said policies established..
Verify/Approve hours worked by reporting personnel (overtime vacation excused and unexcused absences with goal to meet or outperform budget.
maintain/schedule for performance appraisals evaluations progress reviews position changes and wage increases/decreases for reporting and shipping personnel.
Schedule and assign personnel with opportunities to further their education and training through seminars classes meetings and conferences.
Assist in providing personnel with opportunities to further their education and training through seminars classes meetings and conferences.
Coordinate traffic flow between Warehouse Production and Shipping/Receiving.
Get customer approval to scrap or remove tools no longer in production and get one time buy when possible.
Complete monthly reports for month end and required items in Parts metrics MOR etc.
Research and actively seek direction from Corporate for raw materials components and packaging for plant utilization for cost efficiency implement same.
Determine the plant requirements for raw material components packaging and meet Customer Demands along with maintaining agreed inventory levels. Not to exceed budget amount.
Responsible for all subcontractors and inter-company personnel working in the materials area.
Administer direct supervisory responsibility for plant materials team including selection hiring training and performance evaluations and work schedule.
Maintain tight inventory control of customer returnable dunnage keeping close communications with customer ensuring reimbursement of disposable packaging when returnables are not available.
Oversees material Analyst in verifying cycle counts ( Avoid Obsolescence).
Act as a back up Product Logistics Customer Service and Shipping Clerk in their absence-in emergency situations only.
Other duties as assigned.
