Position Purpose

All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHIs vision to be among the kindest highest quality health systems in the country. At the direction of the senior manager and in partnership with the Medical Directors of the designated service linesmanages operations and ensures the delivery of high quality effective and responsive services to KHIs customers. Responsible for management of quality service delivery continuous improvement of policies and procedures and regulatory or organizational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the delivery of care and services for designated areas meets regulatory/accreditation requirements (Federal State DNV etc.) and complies with organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality and safety of the department and takes appropriate action based on findings. Investigates irregularities in the delivery of care or service policy violations etc. and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Reviews and monitors work schedules work hours and duty assignments of personnel then develops and implements a system of care for patients that includes staffing patterns based on patient/customer needs.
  • Develops and revises job descriptions for all department positions; interviews selects and hires new or replacement staff to fill approved positions.
  • Ensures that department personnel are properly oriented trained and evaluated within established periods.
  • Effectively utilizes employee performance improvement and corrective action methods when necessary.
  • In collaboration with licensed designees ensures staff members maintain clinical competence to provide quality patient care services that are consistent with the needs of the patients and the organization while also compliant with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Ensures that sound fiscal and budgeting policies be established and followed and that services are provided without waste of either labor or supplies.
  • Develops and recommends operational and capital expenditure budgets for areas of responsibility in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Provides feedback concerning the departments financial performance on a regular basis and recommends adjustments or exceptions to the budget when unexpected or unusual circumstances arise.
  • Evaluates past and current conditions then recommends a course of action which will promote the development of services within the areas of responsibility.
  • Analyzes evaluates and recommends the necessary resources (personnel supplies facilities etc.) to facilitate improvements in services.
  • Working with the Public Relations Department promotes services as well as emphasizes health education and health promotion activities to the community.
  • Through persuasion or example motivates and influences members of reporting divisions toward the achievement of desired objectives.
  • Effectively communicates with KHI Board Members Medical Staff employees patients and visitors.
  • Conveys the mission vision and goals of KHI and the department as well as other necessary information to the appropriate individuals.
  • Creates an atmosphere in which goals and objectives are met through teamwork and cooperation holds reporting employees accountable for achieving desired goals and objectives.
  • Makes good decisions by recognizing key issues soliciting input when appropriate identifying alternatives with the associated possible risks and gains and chooses the alternative which best contributes to hospital goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of Respiratory Program
  • Bachelors degree in healthcare or four years experience in Respiratory Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab or Wound Care in lieu of degree

Experience:Two years experience as a department director or three years experience in a management or supervisory role in one of the functional areas.

Certification:BLS through the American Heart Association or the Red Cross

Licensure:Arizona Respiratory Care License

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Has knowledge of current state and federal regulatory requirements for designated areas.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills; highly motivated and detailed orientated.
  • Ability to exercise mature and sound judgment in the development and implementation of programs policies and procedures; effective interpersonal public speaking and writing skills; ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare concise accurate reports; strong lingual mathematical and computer skills.

Preferences

Certifications:Credentialed as a Wound Care Specialist WCC CWS and/or WCON
