The Lead Driver will be responsible for safely efficiently and courteously providing waste removal services to customers across one or multiple lines of business. The duties and responsibilities are under the direction of the Operations Supervisor or Manager. Through the assignment of work activities the Lead Driver will develop and utilize a working knowledge of day-to-day hauling operations that may include: leading crew outs in the morning perform new hire training observations and sign offs assist in dispatch monthly truck inspections route analysis process improvement training existing and new employees and Company safety and compliance standards.
Our LOCATION is seeking a LEAD Driver to join the team! The Swing Driver will safely operate a variety of vehicle types including Front End Roll Off Residential and other trucks using different collection methods to provide exceptional service to customers. In this role you will ensure the safe and efficient collection of solid waste or recyclables delivering them to landfills Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) or transfer stations. You will fill in for various routes as needed to maintain consistent service.

A Day in the Life of a Swing Driver:
- Operate vehicles with automatic and standard transmissions to collect solid waste yard waste and recyclables on assigned routes using proper techniques to minimize mechanical issues. Routes may vary daily based on service needs with training provided as needed.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections complete truck reports and documentation and immediately report mechanical issues or accidents to ensure timely repairs and smooth operations.
- Follow safety standards perform equipment checks comply with all federal state/provincial local and company regulations and maintain professionalism when interacting with customers and the public. Wear required personal protective equipment (gloves reflective vest safety glasses work boots).
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle (interior and exterior) and work collaboratively with assigned helper(s) as part of a team. Assist with special pickups and adapt to dynamic service needs.
- Assist with route observations document findings and collaborate with the supervisor for continuous improvement. Help train new team members and attend safety and branch meetings to contribute to a culture of respect and professionalism.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and at least one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols equipment operation and truck maintenance with training and skill development opportunities.
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting 50 to 100 pounds maneuvering vehicles and operating equipment safely in various environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to read and comprehend documents maps and instructions.
- Physically demanding work involving standing sitting and performing repetitive tasks often in loud and outdoor environments.
- Work frequently involves exposure to outdoor elements mechanical parts chemicals and traffic with provided safety equipment and a safety-first approach.
