Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Principal Engineer Project Engineering in Cedar Rapids IA.

What YOU will do

  • Direct all phases of safety engineering for programs from inception through completion.
  • Serve as liaison between airplane project management (Boeing) Systems and Safety project management (Collins) planning stake holder project teams (Systems HW SW) and line management.
  • Develop project plans schedules and budgets for small to mid-size projects and suggests appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to the established project plan schedule and budget.
  • Record and document delay changes in scope and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Pursue all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Perform critical path analysis and prepare and implement work-around plans to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Conduct meetings consolidates and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s).
  • Identify and react to project problems and recommends solutions such as reallocating resources or changing contractual specifications.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must possess at least a bachelors degree or its equivalent in Aerospace Engineering Electrical Engineering Software Engineering or related field and 8 years of progressive experience as a Systems Engineer Software Engineer Safety Engineer or related role. Alternatively must possess at least a masters degree or its equivalent in Aerospace Engineering Electrical Engineering Software Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer Software Engineer Safety Engineer or related role would be acceptable.
  • Must possess at least 5 years working on Avionics Displays Systems.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience leading teams of engineers to project completion.
  • Must possess at least 5 years mentoring engineers in Systems and Safety concepts.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience working with ARP4754.
  • Must possess at least 2 years of experience working with ARP4761.
  • Non-US Person - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the companys immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.

The salary range is $99674.00 to $200000.00 USD per year. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
