SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The Director of People Organizational Development and SafeSport (Athlete Safety) for U.S. Ski & Snowboard will report to the CEO and drive key areas of this work across the company. This is a key role that will provide strategic direction and expertise for the full HR function and continue to improve organizational development. This role will serve as an important thought partner to the leadership team as we continue to raise the bar to keep and develop talent plus to attract the best new talent. An entrepreneurial and proactive mindset with a deep interest in people and the broader business is vital for success in this role. It will also lead the strategic integration of the SafeSport principals across USSS with a focus on culture.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Excellence

  • Partner closely with the CEO and Executive Team to evolve and further develop a high performance high integrity culture that reflects the organizations mission and drives staff athlete and stakeholder engagement trust and alignment across all levels.
  • Serve as a visible cultural leader and connector across the organization ensuring that every individual feels seen heard and supported and that the people strategy reflects the values of excellence belonging and athlete first thinking.
  • Lead the development and implementation of progressive people strategies including talent planning organizational design and leadership development that enable USSS to attract retain and grow exceptional talent in a competitive and purpose driven environment.
  • Develop comprehensive approaches to employee development retention and on-boarding by refining or creating career paths and employee development succession planning learning opportunities as appropriate benefits and incentives.
  • Lead the SafeSport management across the organization as the leading point of contact for coordinating with the Center for SafeSport and the respective staff members internally. Ensuring all reporting and compliance areas are met. Also ensuring the principals of SafeSport are fully integrated throughout the organization.
  • Lead inclusivity and opportunity programs of the organization including evolving the strategy as needed and leading the Inclusivity and Opportunity Task Force.
  • Oversee talent acquisition onboarding performance management compliance and benefits plus other staff initiatives as appropriate.
  • Develop relationships with employees and become someone who is sought for advice and counsel on HR cultural and organizational issues.
  • Mediate employee relations and performance issues and provide counsel to managers on appropriate methods of performance management and corrective action.
  • Partner with Finance to create and implement total compensation management packages/offers particularly recognition and incentive programs directed towards organizational priorities.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the HR staff.
  • Partner with Legal to ensure compliance & mitigate organizational risks.
  • Be a role model for U.S. Ski & Snowboard core values and demonstrate leadership consistently with all members of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration Business or related major preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive HR experience with a minimum of 2-3 years in a senior HR leadership role.
  • Broader business experience in addition to HR overseeing or working in other business areas e.g. management consulting experience preferred.
  • A proactive entrepreneurial high energy mindset is important plus great at multitasking.
  • Proven ability to interact and influence senior leaders.
  • General business and financial acumen with the ability to develop and utilize HR data and metrics.
  • Unquestionable personal integrity fairness and credibility necessary to gain the trust and commitment of individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated success at cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and creating partnerships at all levels within the organization to achieve results.
  • Excellent communications skills - written verbal and interpersonal - and an ability to tailor communication style to diverse audiences.
  • A passion for developing people and organizations.
  • Empathetic and engaging individual who listens well is responsive solutions focused and results oriented.
  • Ability to successfully work under pressure and handle multiple highly sensitive issues and manage competing priorities.
  • Drive initiatives with limited resources and roll-up your sleeves attitude to achieve desired results.
  • An interest in staying informed on emerging technologies - including AI tools/platforms - and assessing their potential to enhance people culture and performance strategies.
