The basics of this position:

Primarily responsible for directly engaging with students to facilitate their orientation to college life and to implement strategies aimed at fostering their success. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the successful integration and retention of students. programs. This position collaborates closely with various college departments to organize and administer programs initiatives and strategies designed to support a seamless successful transition for new students and enhance their overall college experience.

What youll do:

  • Facilitate comprehensive orientation programs to familiarize new students with campus resources academic policies and support services.
  • Coordinate and lead orientation sessions workshops and events for new students both in-person and virtually.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for new students providing guidance and assistance throughout the orientation process.
  • Organize and spearhead campus events including convocations tailored to welcome and engage incoming students on a large scale.
  • Implement retention initiatives and interventions to proactively support student success and persistence.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to identify at-risk students and provide personalized support and resources to address their needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student participation in orientation and retention programs and track outcomes related to student success and retention.
  • Assist in maintaining online orientation and retention content that is relevant and supportive of the work of the department.
  • Collaborate with advisors faculty and staff to ensure that orientation programs align with the colleges academic and student support objectives.
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of orientation and retention programs through surveys focus groups and other assessment methods and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with campus partners including academic departments student affairs and campus clubs and organizations to promote a supportive and inclusive college environment.
  • Assist in collaboration with the marketing and communications team in the development of content for student engagement as it relates to orientation and retention.
  • Assists in the recruitment and training of peer leaders/mentors to support the work with orientation and retention.
  • Maintain an accurate account of participation grades and services.
  • Maintain communication and offer additional support to assigned case load of students.
  • Support the Director with related activities and special projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education experience and other requirements:

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.
Three (3) years experience in higher education working in Orientation First Year Experience Student Leadership programs or Campus/Student Activities.
