Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Structural/Concrete Inspector and play a vital role in confirming the quality and integrity of construction projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on significant projects including those involving historic properties and requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety and excellence. As a Structural/Concrete Inspector you will be responsible for inspecting construction work to confirm compliance with project specifications and industry standards while maintaining professionalism and effective communication with all stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Communicate with contractors engineers and project personnel to address construction issues and verify resolutions.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections on repaired or reworked areas to confirm that issues have been properly addressed.
  • Conduct labor interviews with contractor and subcontractor employees to verify correct classification and wage compliance.
  • Document deficiencies report issues to the project team and assist in coordinating corrective actions.
  • Immediately notify the construction contractor or relevant officials if a potentially life-threatening safety condition is observed.
  • Inspect concrete and masonry work to verify conformance with approved drawings project specifications and industry standards.
  • Monitor concrete placement curing and finishing processes to identify potential defects or inconsistencies.
  • Observe formwork reinforcement placement and embedded items to confirm proper installation before concrete pouring.
  • Oversee corrective actions for unacceptable construction work.
  • Perform field testing of concrete such as slump tests air content checks and temperature readings and collect samples for laboratory testing.
  • Review material deliveries batch tickets and mix designs to confirm proper materials are used as specified.
  • Track concrete pours maintain testing records and document masonry work progress with reports and photographs.
  • Verify masonry unit installation mortar mixing joint tooling and reinforcement placement for structural integrity and durability.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Construction Architecture or related fields  0 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in reviewing contractor shop drawings and submittals.
  • Experience working in and around historic properties.
  • OSHA 10-hour training certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction inspection.
  • Experience working on federal managed construction projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
  • Experience working with federal Project Management Systems.
