Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all compliance rules regulations and guidelines involving childcare licensure CACFP and Head Start Performance Standards are implemented and followed maintaining written documentation of such when require.
  • Ensures documentation for child care licensing is submitted yearly.
  • Monitors and updates staff listing for child care licensing.
  • Monitors and ensures teaching staff are not placed in classrooms prior to approval from child care licensing.
  • Supervises the hiring of teaching staff including but not limited to notification of vacant positions; screening applicants; arranging and participating in preliminary and preparation of paperwork for hiring as indicated.
  • Directly supervises and evaluates teaching staff including the clear establishment of annual performance goals annual appraisals performance corrective action if indicated regular staff meetings and development of job descriptions.
  • Ensures professional development plans are in immediately in place for staff needing a CDA.
  • Provides at a minimum regular monthly supervision of all assigned staff.
  • Completes weekly staff schedule ensuring child-adult ratios are always in place.
  • Complete annual employee performance reviews and professional development goals.
  • Ensures individual team members work schedules and leave requests will allow for proper coverage and are in accordance with the AWARE procedures.
  • Assume responsibilities in the absence or vacancy of education position as indicated.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with teacher education and professional development requirements.
  • Assist with identification development and facilitation of training pertinent to the needs of education staff.
  • Provides orientation to classroom volunteers.
  • Monitors classrooms on a periodic basis to make observations to ensure high quality services.
  • Provides support and direction in the areas of curriculum classroom organization guidance discipline and use of materials and equipment.
  • Participates in program planning/coordination with other Service Areas.
  • Monitors and ensures the timely completion of HSPS requirements including home visits parent teacher conferences child checkpoints developmental screening.
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date record keeping system within ChildPlus.
  • Monitors and ensures classroom attendance with data entry is accurate and timely.
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date record keeping system as deemed necessary for meeting program objectives.
  • Assists with inventory of equipment and materials for EHS facility.
  • Provides input into purchasing and inventory of equipment and materials for EHS facility.
  • Assists with ensuring Exterior and Interior of center is clean free from garbage weeds clutter.
  • Maintain regular communication with all team members to ensure coordination of daily activities.
  • Facilitate team operations through the sharing of information and knowledge identification of teamwork issues and development of problem-solving recommendations.
  • Adheres to the American with Disabilities Act (ADA-1992) which prohibits discriminatory actions toward children and/or adult with disabilities. Children with disabilities are enrolled in the classroom as mandated by Federal Law.
  • Collaborates with EHS supervisors and management team to ensure modeling of professionalism consistent communication and response to program needs.
  • Participates with program self-assessment and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensures complete and accurate annual Program Information Report (PIR).
  • Maintains confidentiality of records and information on Early Head Start staff children and families.
  • Participates in mandatory AWARE training in-services staff meetings and program committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and reasonable within the scope of the duties listed above.

Requirements


Talents skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of infant and toddler development early childhood education.
  • Broad working knowledge relative to the needs of low-income children including experiences with exceptional needs and quality teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of STARS and the Montana childcare licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and federal and state safety standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of data collection analyzation and reporting skills are required to perform multiple tasks to meet changing job conditions and program needs.
  • Ability to use abstract reasoning problem solving form professional relationships with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and strong writing skills.
  • Computer literacy including database management spreadsheet word processing internet email.
  • Ability to plan organize direct evaluate and refine comprehensive services to children and their families.
  • Requires the ability to establish long range vision of program education goals and accomplishments and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff children and parents and outside agencies.
  • Ability to identify and facilitate training and training development.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data specific to the responsibilities of this position using active listening skills.
  • Requires an AA degree in Early Childhood Education in addition to direct employment related experience.
  • Requires at least two (2) years of employment experience working with families and children aged 0 5 in an educational setting with a demonstrated knowledge of program planning early childhood assessment and family systems.
  • Requires two (2) years supervisory experience. Head Start/Early Head Start experience preferred.
