Job Description
Classification Title: Custodian III
Title: Assistant Head Custodian
Calendar: B Year Round
ESP Salary Schedule: Range 60 Step 1
Hours: 8/Day 40/Week
Hours for this position will be Monday - Friday 12:30pm - 9:00pm during school session.
Summer hours will be 7:00am - 3:30pm and may be adjusted to meet facility programing needs.

General Purpose
Responsible for supervising and assisting with the cleaning of the school building and grounds and providing general custodial assistance during school hours.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Serve as Head Custodian in his/her absence.
- Clean gyms multi-purpose rooms and restrooms daily.
- Supervise part-time custodians and night crew in their cleaning activities; assist in training part-time personnel.
- Assist in setting up chairs tables etc. for special activities.
- Secure building except one door at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Take down the flag each afternoon.
- Order supplies as needed.
- Clean mop and buff assigned floors.
- Handle alarm calls when Head Custodian is unavailable.
- Periodically provide custodial assistance in the lunchroom during lunch hour.
- Perform limited minor repairs and general maintenance on equipment and facilities (boiler plumbing etc.).
- Assist with summer cleaning inside the building; washing walls cleaning windows and furniture re-waxing floors etc.
- Assist with summer cleanup outside the building; mow lawns set sprinklers and hoses trim shrubs etc.
- Clean showers and locker rooms periodically.
Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of related experience.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
- Knowledge and ability to supervise the work of subordinate staff.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment operations and maintenance (boiler operations motor and fan maintenance etc.).
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- The job regularly requires above average strength and/or stamina. Job duties may involve lifting and carrying of heavy materials/objects (50-100 pounds).
- Occasionally work is carried out in disagreeable conditions. Exposure to adverse working conditions inclement weather dirt/dust noise or fumes and/or exposure to possible accidents health hazards or minor injuries produce an environment that involves adjusting to or accommodating these uncomfortable conditions.
