NBMLHD Community Mental Health offer a range of specialised services for children young people families and older people through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the persons needs.
An exciting opportunity has become available for a qualified Clinical Psychologist/Snr Clinical Psychologist to join the Whole Family Team in a Permanent Full Time Whole Family Team provides coordinated specialist clinical services to families where child protection concerns exist in the context of drug and alcohol health problems mental health problems and parenting difficulties. The team follows an assertive outreach model of care and works intensively with families for up to twelve philosophy of the Whole Family Team is that the family is the constant in a child or young persons life.
Accordingly family centred care in which partnerships are built between families and health professionals is a core principle. These partnerships are built on trust respect and valuing the role of the family in the wellbeing of the child or young person. Emotional social and developmental support are integral components of Whole Family Team comprises clinicians from a range of disciplines who possess a broad scope of specialist clinical skills in mental health and drug and alcohol. Team members are encouraged and supported to fully utilise their particular training and expertise to meet the needs of families.
The primary role of the Whole Family Team - Drug and Alcohol Clinical Psychologist/ Forensic psychologist is to provide substance use specific assessments psychological assessments and treatments referral and education to family members in accordance with relevant guidelines and literature including the NSW Drug and Alcohol Psychosocial Interventions Professional Practice Guidelines and relevant practices of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Drug and Alcohol Service. The position also involves intensive case management family interventions parenting interventions and skills programs as well as group program (therapeutic & diversional).
In addition the position holder will provide expert consultation to the team including participation in clinical reviews as well as build knowledge and capacity within the team on substance-related and psychological assessments and includes the provision of direct services to clients of the Whole Family Team requiring advanced practice skills.
