Negative Keynotes:
No single negative keynote is a dealbreaker but collectively may be. The most important factor is the type and size of work experience.
Age: Likely too old and is typically set in their ways on how they operate or too young to fulfill strong No. 2 Senior Engineer type duties. Ideal Age is between 28 and 34.
Education: Either no Masters degree or has a PhD. PhD is normally not as desirable. Neither are dealbreakers but the sweet spot is a Masters degree. We also would typically like their most recent degree to be from an American university.
Type: We only do building design other engineering likely not applicable (civil bridge aviation transportation ). Work was found to be one or a combination of not technical non building design or too niche to apply to our work
Materials: Many candidates will have experience that focuses on specific systems or materials (wood design cold formed steel design ). We need well rounded engineers that is experienced in the 4 major systems (masonry steel wood concrete)
Non US: Work experience that is international can be difficult to transition (differing methods units codes structural systems). American work experience is key.
Size: We do large complex commercial buildings (office high rise sports healthcare education ) small buildings or residential type is typically not applicable. Some firms that do similar work to us are listed below....
