Job Description

Job Title: Governance Consultant

Job Status: 1 Permanent New position vacancy

Eligibility: Open to any qualified candidate

JOB PURPOSE

Provides governance expertise and supports Council (Board of Directors) and committees in the effective administration of governance processes including supporting the Executive Director/CEO and President in relation to Council and committee functions. Coordinates the development implementation and maintenance of a broad range of governance focused policies and practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides expertise advice and recommendations related to a broad range of governance and board issues.
  • Establishes manages and monitors communications to promote and facilitate an effective flow of information within the Strategy team Leadership Team staff Council and Committees.
  • Conducts research on best practices and governance trends of the regulatory environment provides analysis makes recommendations and implements as approved; builds and maintains an effective network of business relationships in regulatory governance field to share expertise and inform board to support best practices.
  • Monitors and evaluates the implementation of governance policies and directives and recommends improvements to achieve the Colleges overall strategic objectives.
  • Provides oversight of Council and Committee governance processes and ensures all activities are consistent with legislation and CNO policies and practices including the Council member nomination process orientation and ongoing education Council/Committee performance and appointment and election activities.
  • Creates and updates process manual as required to document administrative workflows and processes related to Council and Committee activities ensuring currency and completeness of information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Completion of post-secondary education.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in a professional environment including related work experience coordinating complex processes supporting decision-making bodies or other related activities.

Job Competencies Knowledge Skills

  • Analytical and Critical Thinking synthesizes and analyzes researched information for patterns trends discrepancies and relationships related to governance best practices; leverages analysis and knowledge of in-depth knowledge of relevant by-laws CNO policies and processes previous similar situations to inform conclusions.
  • Consulting and Advising applies broad understanding of the overall organization its strategic goals and major functions; understanding of governance processes governance model rules of order and evaluation when understanding and seeking feedback of current issues processes and requirements; helps relevant system partners to consider recommendations; considers a range of factors options and solutions to address Council and Committee needs; identifies process improvements and future implications.
  • Problem Solving utilizes high level of understanding of relevant legislation such as Regulated Health Professions Act and Nursing Act regulations and by-laws in identifying and analyzing key governance issues and trends; evaluates impacts risks and benefits; provides options and solutions and adjusts to address any changes to the problem.
  • Project/Program Management - applies knowledge of project management tools and methodologies to coordinate continuous improvement projects focused on Council and Committee governance processes; establishes and monitors project plan and timelines; identifies opportunities evaluates project/program outcomes against expectations.
  • Relationship Management - builds engages and develops collaborative relationships in process improvement initiatives; adept at creating networks and partnerships that build credibility and trust; consults with key partners and relevant parties to seek feedback and get support to inform future direction.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in technology such as Microsoft Office Acrobat Pro Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Pulse) Nasdaq Boardvantage and collaborative tools such as SharePoint Zoom OneDrive MS Teams.

Hiring Range: $122973 - $130679

Full Salary Range: $122973 - $147568
