GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
This position works as part of a team supporting high-speed / hypersonic flight evaluation programs within the Department of Defense and NASA. The Specialty Manufacturing Engineer will lead the interactions necessary for manufacturing limited-scope flight hardware items for the Hypersonic Structures Department. The Specialty Manufacturing Engineer may also support production efforts related to ground test specimens and hardware. This position works closely with technicians machinists inspectors analysts and design engineers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Lead customer interactions related to producing flight items.
Lead internal machine shop interactions related to producing flight items.
Lead internal Hypersonics Lab interactions related to producing flight items.
Lead internal part inspection interactions related to producing flight items.
Lead/support shipping arrangements of produced flight items.
Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Build productive internal/external working relationships.
Other Job Functions
Lead external machine shop interactions related to producing Hypersonic Structures items as required.
Lead external part inspection interactions related to producing Hypersonic Structures items as required
Work with internal inventory management personnel to ensure materials are moved internally to appropriate locations for use in flight hardware manufacturing
Document manufacturing-relevant issues
Work closely with Quality to establish and maintain appropriate standards and procedures
Apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
Build stable working relationships internally.
Receive detailed instructions on all work.
Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
Communicate and interact effectively with peers supervisors and public including maintaining respect for others and following company policies.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
