Job Description
Azure Data Engineer
Hybrid contract opportunity in Toronto s insurance industry for a seasoned Azure data engineering expert. This strategic role focuses on building scalable data pipelines leveraging Azure Data Factory and Databricks and leading agile development processes in a modern cloud environment.
What is in it for you:
Salaried: $70-75 per hour.
Incorporated Business Rate: $85-90 per hour.
12-month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
Weekday schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.
Hybrid work: in-office Tuesday to Thursday.

Responsibilities:
Design develop and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines and end-to-end solutions using Microsoft Azure data and analytics services.
Lead agile development processes including sprint planning task assignments code reviews and demos.
Translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures aligned with enterprise standards.
Develop and maintain data warehouse structures and manage both relational and non-relational databases.
Expose data through visualization platforms such as Power BI and Azure API apps.
Mentor team members and promote knowledge sharing across departments.
Recommend architectural improvements to enhance the scalability performance and resilience of data platforms.
What you will need to succeed:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
8 10 years of experience in designing and developing data warehouses and ETL solutions
Proven expertise in Azure Data Engineering including Data Factory Databricks Data Lake and SQL Databases.
Proficiency in ETL processes and automation using Azure Data Factory and PySpark.
Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and tools such as GitHub Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
Experience with BI platforms especially Power BI.
Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
