Job Description

Job Summary:

This role is for a surgical technologist responsible for providing surgical support in a variety of surgical settings including cardiovascular trauma and other surgical specialties. The technologist will work collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient surgical procedures. A minimum of 1.5 years of experience is required with specific experience in CVOR and trauma settings.
Location: Wilmington North Carolina United States.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing surgical rooms and equipment.
- Assisting surgeons during surgical procedures.
- Maintaining sterile technique and asepsis.
- Handling and labeling specimens.
- Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments.
- Following universal protocol (time-out) procedures.
- Participating in trauma level II responses.
- Floating to Main OR and Vascular OR as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a surgical technologist.
- Experience working with adult and geriatric patients.
- Experience in CVOR and trauma settings.
- Experience with cardiac and vascular surgery cases.
- Proficiency in fire safety aseptic technique laser safety sharp safety and specimen handling/labeling.
- Knowledge of sterilization/disinfection procedures and universal protocol (time-out).
- Trauma Level II experience.
- BLS and NBSTSA certifications.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a community hospital setting.
- Experience with a wide range of surgical case types (Endo/Laparoscopic ENT General Gyn Neuro Ortho Plastics Urology).
- Experience with organ donation.
- Epic experience.
Special Considerations:
- 10-hour day shifts (0630-1630).
- Call requirement: 2 days a week and every third weekend.
- Floating required to Main OR and Vascular OR as needed.
- Weekend work required as needed.
- Scrubs provided.
- 40-hour unit orientation.
Scheduling:
- 10-hour day shifts (0630-1630).
- Shift assignments determined by manager.
- Call is 2 days a week and every third weekend.
- Weekend work is required as needed.
