Job Summary
The Operations Training Coordinator supports the planning coordination and facilitation of animal-focused training programs for HSPPR staff. This role works closely with operations veterinary services animal law enforcement and volunteer services to identify training needs align development plans with departmental goals and needs and coordinate training activities. The training coordinator facilitates an environment of compassionate and respectful care for both animals and people in line with HSPPRs mission values and philosophy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates shelter operations-based learning programs to support onboarding and ongoing staff development as well as volunteer training.
- Facilitate Train-the-Trainer opportunities to build and promote a culture of learning.
- Collaborate with departments to develop new hire plans based on the needs of the organization department and employees.
- Assist supervisors and trainers in keeping standard operating procedures and training documentation up-to-date.
- Ensure standard operating procedures library stays current organized and accessible. Train employees in the use of the library to ensure a consistent workflow and skill base.
- Align training efforts with operational goals and schedules adapting as needed to support departmental initiatives.
- Support training related to humane and safe animal handling proper care and best practices in animal sheltering and welfare.
- Ensure consistent delivery of organizational values policies and best practices during training sessions.
- Maintain reporting on offered trainings staff and volunteer engagement and compliance with HSPPRs continuing education requirements.
- Communicate training plans and progress with department trainers supervisors and leadership.
- Coordinate training needs assessments to identify knowledge or skill gaps.
- Collect post-training feedback to help refine programs and ensure effectiveness.
- Stay informed on educational best practices and new training techniques.
- Use and train staff to use various software systems such as: SystemHub Chameleon Acuity Paylocity and Outlook.
- Participate in regular meetings of the Professional Development Committee Safety Committee and other relevant committees as needed.
- Represents HSPPR in a professional light and promotes HSPPR mission values and goals

- Regularly sits at a computer station in a shared office environment.
- The employee must regularly lift and move 25 or more pounds of moving weight and occasionally lift and move up to 40 or more pounds of moving weight.
- May be occasionally required to climb or balance stoop kneel crouch and crawl.
- Regularly required to sit reach with hands and arms talk hear and is frequently required to stand and walk. May be expected to be on feet for extended periods.
- Consistently exposed to animals in the workplace and animal allergens under conditions with limited alternatives available.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Regularly exposed to noise and potential exposure to hazardous weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to cleaning supplies and other substances containing toxic or caustic chemicals.
Schedule Requirements
- Monday - Friday. Five 8-hour shifts
- May include occasional evening weekend and holiday shifts as needed
Workplace Type
Education/Experience Required
- 2 years of animal shelter operations experience; examples to include but not limited to: adoptions admissions animal care and animal handling.
- Basic animal behavior and veterinary knowledge.
- Ability to effectively read write interpret communicate perform basic problem solving and perform basic math as commonly expected from completion of a High School Diploma or Equivalent Education. Bachelors degree in adult education organizational leadership or training and development is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory various learning styles and effective information design.
- Experience with Quality Assurance (QA) preferred.
- Previous LMS administration experience or experience using systems to manage work preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic time-sensitive and sometimes remote work environment.
- Superior interpersonal oral communication and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational and facilitation skills.
- Positive attitude professional demeanor and flexibility.
- Valid Colorado Drivers License and insurable driving record required.
