The opportunity

Job Summary:

The Office of Diversity Programs (ODP) at Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a motivated and inclusive student to serve as an Agent of Change. This role provides a dynamic opportunity to develop essential career skills while contributing to a welcoming equitable campus environment.

Student employees will gain valuable experience through supporting ODPs events communications and daily operations while enhancing their communication leadership technology and interpersonal skills in a professional setting.

Duties and Responsibilities are unique for each role but include:

  • Collaborate with team members to plan and execute 26 monthly programs or events. Responsibilities may include menu planning guest coordination speaker outreach event setup/breakdown and decorations.

Competencies: Equity & Inclusion Leadership Communication

  • Create engaging digital and print content to promote events and educational messaging via social media channels email educational materials videos bulletin boards and flyers.

Competencies: Technology Communication Creativity

  • Support daily center operations such as maintaining a welcoming and organized lounge space managing inventory copying and filing documents and shopping for event materials.

Competencies: Equity & Inclusion Teamwork Leadership

  • Champion the mission of ODP by fostering a sense of belonging embracing diverse perspectives and actively contributing to an inclusive campus environment.

Competencies: Self-Awareness Initiative Teamwork

  • Demonstrate initiative by working independently when needed and collaborating effectively with a diverse team. Show flexibility and willingness to support evolving needs and tasks.

Competencies: Teamwork Initiative

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity equity and inclusion concepts
  • Knowledge of basic computer/technology tools (Microsoft Word Excel Teams Outlook Canva video/digital imaging etc.)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok
  • Current enrollment in an SNHU Undergraduate or Graduate Day program
  • Positive standing with Academics and Community Standards

  • Strengthened event planning and project management skills
  • Enhanced public speaking facilitation and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Improved digital fluency and content creation through social media and multimedia tools
  • Broadened understanding of communication strategies and team collaboration

  • Refined customer service skills (in-person email and phone)

Hours: Various shifts are available and are typically between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM (Monday - Friday) with some weekend shifts required. Each employees schedule is developed in tandem with departmental needs and student worker availability. It is expected that all student employees attend weekly staff meetings (currently scheduled on Tuesdays from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM). Students are generally scheduled for 8-12 hours per week. This position is in-person only.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills qualifications experience and internal equity in addition to relevant business considerations.
