Group Volunteer Coordinator Organization Description: Since 1981 the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service collaborating with the Presidio Trust partners donors and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument Fort Point National Historic Site Alcatraz Island Crissy Field Mori Point Lands End and the Presidio of San Francisco. Branch Description: In partnership with the National Park Service and Presidio Trust The Volunteer & Internship department are the community pathway and program management backbone for parkwide volunteer and internship programming. Through a lens of safety we provide structure and streamlined systems to meaningful volunteer and internship experiences across the park sites. This includes overseeing group scheduling supporting field staff and organizing volunteer events and activities. Position Overview: This is a 20-hour per week part-time non-benefitted position that is anticipated to end on/aroundJanuary 28 2026. Itis based in San Franciscos Fort Mason with a hybrid work schedule. In collaboration with the Volunteer Program Senior Manager & Volunteer Coordinator the Group Coordinator will emphasize group program coordination supporting volunteer scheduling and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. The role requires 1-2 days per week in-office at Fort Mason and may involve time in the field at various park locations. Reports To: Senior Program Manager Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Group Program Coordination - Coordinate group volunteer programs including scheduling confirmations and logistical support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in volunteer database
- Work with internal teams to match group projects with park needs.
- Communicate with volunteer leaders to ensure a smooth experience for participants.
- Maintain relationships with field staff through regular outreach.
- Gather feedback to continuously improve volunteer engagement and scheduling systems.
- Coordinate groups for large annual events
Volunteer Communications - Monitor and respond to inquiries in the volunteer inbox.
- Provide timely information to volunteers redirect questions to appropriate contacts and support group leaders.
Event Support - Assist with planning and logistics for events including assist with planning and logistics for large annual volunteer events including Coastal Cleanup Day and MLK Weekend of Service.
- Support on-site coordination to ensure successful event execution.
Program Administration - Update volunteer calendars scheduling systems and list of available projects.
- Assist with creating flyers templates and other materials for programs.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: - Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of people and teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and professional communication skills both written and verbal.
- Flexible and adaptable in managing multiple priorities.
- Comfort with basic software tools for scheduling communication and document creation.
- Salesforce database experience is a plus
- Demonstrated experience coordinating groups or events
- Ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently and stay organized
